The Internet and digital technologies have transformed how people learn. Teachers and learners everywhere can access world-class materials and participate in their creation and evolution.
The Virtual University of Small States of the Commonwealth uses the Internet and digital technologies to create course materials that can be shared among teachers and administrators at educational institutions around the world.
These non-proprietary, electronically held course materials can readily be adapted to the specific context of each country. Adapted course materials can then be used in the offering of credit-bearing qualifications in the countries' recognized institutions, strengthening their educational capacity and outreach.
Small states thus become active contributors to global development and leaders in educational reform through the innovative use of information and communications technologies (ICTs). The VUSSC is throwing a wide bridge across the digital divide.
